Keeping in step with Shangri-La’s neighborhood pastry shop are the rustic interiors to help set the robust contemporary vibe the bakery is going for. The space invites patrons to grab a seat and take a few moments collecting their energy for the day ahead, albeit with fresh-off-the-oven, all-natural, and trans-fat free baked delights in tow.

We got the chance to sample a couple of their signature bakes, and we’re telling you, they take their pastries seriously. It’s that good.

Their Sourdough breads hits the right notes—warm and soft on the inside, and crusty on the outside, and that’s because the recipe they use is part of the prestigious World Sourdough Library of Recipes. We particularly enjoyed their breadwinning Speija Dried Fruit Bread, with 3 hearty combinations of flour made sunnier with notes of prune, raisin, and figs. Meanwhile, on the non-sourdough front, their signature Lemon Pound Cake refreshes the palate with its zesty tang.

They also have some savory pastries on hand perfect for any time of day. We’re head over heels with their Quiche — in particular, one such flavor that pays homage to breakfast. We love how soft runny eggs and juicy tomatoes play alongside cozy crusty pastry. Another favorite of ours is the Apple Turnover. If you’ll excuse us, we’ll just be here, dreaming of that flaky sugar Danish pastry filled with granny smith compote, and further enhanced by cinnamon.

Don’t forger to pair their pastry delights with their curated beverage selection from homemade kombucha to coffees partnered with Toby’s Estate to native tsokolate, and even specialty teas, and cold-pressed juices.
