BBQ Chicken Sloppy Joes

Why not try this favorite American sandwich? Savor sweet and smoky barbecue flavors and crisp vegetables in every bite — perfect as a meal or as a snack. Using chicken also gave this American classic a lighter twist.

Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves 5

INGREDIENTS
500 grams chicken thigh fillet, diced
100 grams onions, diced
15 grams garlic, chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste

FOR THE RED CABBAGE COLESLAW
250 grams red cabbage, shredded
100 grams carrots, julienned
150 grams mayonnaise
15 grams white sugar
50 ml red cane vinegar
Salt and pepper, to taste

FOR THE SAUCE
125 grams hickory BBQ sauce
400 grams canned Marinara sauce
25 ml Tabasco sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
Flour, as needed

TO BUILD
5 pieces Kaiser bun, toasted
50 grams red onions, sliced
150 grams cheddar cheese
180 grams French fries

PROCEDURE
1 Sauté onions and garlic for 1 to 2 minutes.
2 Add chicken and sauté until cooked. Season with salt and pepper.
3 For the coleslaw, mix mayonnaise, white sugar, and red cane vinegar until sugar dissolves.
4 Mix in cabbage and carrots.
5 For the sauce, mix everything together in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add flour to thicken.
6 Mix the sauce with the chicken.
7 Mound the sloppy joe mixture on the toasted bun, add coleslaw, sliced red onions, and cheese on top. Serve with fries.
