Looking to do something meaningful to give back this holiday season? This celebrity chef, host, and author has something delicious for you.
Chef Sharwin Tee launched “A Christmas Pop-Up”, a four-course dinner featuring the best of holiday food plus a round of locally brewed beer. The best part? All proceeds will be used to build a public school library — a cause near and dear to Chef Sharwin’s heart.
Every year, he holds about three to six benefit dinners to raise funds for the cause.
“I forward the fund to the Jessie Robredo Foundation, which helps me identify public schools in need of a library. They then coordinate with the school. The school community builds the library while the foundation provides all the books and building materials,” Chef Sharwin shared with Breakfast. “My goal has always been to build one library per year but sometimes, the foundation is able to build more than one with the money we raise. All I need is to raise at least P120,000 a year and we should be good.”
This coming Thursday, November 14th, Chef Sharwin is teaming up with U Hotels in Makati City for the Christmas pop-up dinner, together with local artisans and fellow foodies who’ve graciously offered their time and talent to help this great cause.
“With this pop-up, my idea is to serve a menu that’s Christmas-inspired, food and food traditions normally enjoyed in the holiday season. Plus, I want to show our diners some of the best things they can order this December either for their own noche buena or as gifts,” Chef Sharwin explained.
He adds, “I’m lucky all my collaborators are so generous with their time and talent. Not only are all their products great for the holidays, but I personally love their products and enjoy them.”
The pop-up will feature creations from The Bald Baker, Wok With Mom, Baby Pat’s Ensaymada, Villa Socorro, The Plaza Catering, and Mitchell’s Backyard Brewery.
Chef Sharwin created a mouthwatering menu for the pop-up dinner:
Sichuan Dan Dan Mien
Fish Fragrant Eggplant with Wok With Mom’s 8 Treasure Chicken
Grilled Baby Pat’s Classic Ensaymada with Plaza Ham Jam and Villa Socorro’s BBQ Banana Chips
Russian Brown Sugar Milk Tea with The Bald Baker’s Big Black Cookie
After Dinner Treat
Chocoloco’s Choco Nibs
Mitchell’s Backyard Brewey Belgian Wheat
Diners are requested to make a minimum donation of P1,500 to attend the Christmas Pop-Up dinner. For reservations and inquiries, email Chef Sharwin at email@example.com.
