We’re all too familiar with the children’s story of The Three Little Pigs. It started with three houses – one made out of straw, another made out of sticks, and the third was made out of bricks. All of the houses were left ruined except for the last one, but little did we know there’s a fourth one which no Big Bad Wolf will ever find. This last house is hidden in the safe confines of Kapitolyo, disguised as a bar, and concealed within a restaurant called Sisig Society. But how do you know if you have arrived? “Just look for the light and the signage,” says Sam, who manages the bar.
Upon entering, one can’t help but notice how cozy the place feels, as if it’s a classy extension of your own secret room. It’s so easy to feel at home because of the chill vibes that the place evokes, along with their special playlist that goes well with their speakeasy theme (Pro-tip, if you want a slice of their beats, don’t feel shy to ask them! They’d be happy to keep you up to step).
Once you settle down, it’s time for the main attraction – their fine selection of drinks. “We want to educate people on classic cocktails and the way it’s properly made,” says Sam. Here, you’re sure to experience an exceptional glass every single time. If you’re new to cocktails and unsure of what to order, the Whiskey Sour will not disappoint. How could it when it’s the favorite drink of the bartender himself? This bourbon-based drink contains sugar, lemon, a dash of Angostura bitters, and egg whites.
For those after the bittersweet taste, the Negroni might just be your glass of liquor. It is also gin-based and contains Campari and Red Vermouth.
One of the bestselling cocktails you should get a taste of at least once in your life is their Gin Basil Smash. It will give you that refreshing feeling as it contains gin, sugar, lemon, and basil.
Ironic as it sounds, they do not serve any kind of pork at all in this place. “Downstairs (Sisig Society), we eat pig parts, but upstairs (Three Little Pigs), we glorify them,” explains Sam. This makes it clear why there is an abundance of pig artworks everywhere you look. They have at least 40-50 different kinds of pictures of pigs in various human forms and even as versions of iconic artworks. Don’t worry though because you can still enjoy their scrumptious bar bites like their Chicken Skin, Kikiam, Onion Rings, and Dynamites, alongside your delicious cocktail.
Whether you’re just hiding from the world or you’ve made it a mission to locate the fourth of the Little Pigs’ houses, this speakeasy is worth searching for. Just make sure you don’t bring some wolves with you.
Three Little Pigs is located at Second Floor, 12 East Capitol Drive, Kapitolyo, Pasig City.
