These Future Chefs Created Their Own Dishes At The Jolly University Year 5 Grand Cook-Off Finale

Last March 15, we witnessed one of the most exciting cooking contests in Manila. The 20 finalists showed off their culinary prowess at the finale of Jolly University (JU) Year 5 Grand Cook-Off held at St. Scholastica’s College Manila. With this year’s theme which was “Innovate. Create. Share,” the contestants had to come up with their best dish creations under the modern Filipino and Fusion categories. The young chefs surely had fun recreating your favorite dishes.

The winning dish that bagged top prize is the Hainanese Chicken Binakol Noodle Soup by Tyrone Lemuel Ty of University of Santo Tomas. Meanwhile, his schoolmate, Richmond Joseph Suntay followed second with his Shepherd’s Rendang. Lastly, Patricia Ong of Chiang Kai Shek College finished third with her Thai Pork Mushroom Longganisa, Suman with Crispy Shallot-Garlic Latik and Coconut Cream Foam served with Fried Egg and Green Mango Salad.

With the commitment of Jolly University to harness aspiring chefs’ talents, each contestant surely gained a lot of learnings from the contest. Aside from the bragging rights and monetary prize, they will bring home an experience to remember for the rest of their lives.
