Yes, you heard that right and it’s all thanks to Auro in partnership with Fat Girls Day Out. The former is an international award winning, proudly Filipino bean-to-bar chocolate company that sustainably sources cacao beans from local farmers. Meanwhile, the latter are experts when it comes to curating experiences centered on Filipino culture and the arts.
The noteworthy partnership promises an innovative take on the bar crawl scene and on highlighting proudly Pinoy chocolate in where else – Poblacion! Here are the chocolate infused savories and drinks you can expect in the well-loved nightlife strip.
We all know pad thai and tom yum but Thai food is so much more than these staples and this is what Khao Khai Thai Chicken House seeks for our tastebuds to discover. Coming into play in the chocolate-infusions department are the 77% Auro Dark Chocolate Bagoong Dip (it also comes with a vegetarian option) with frehly cut green mangoes for the ultimate appetizer. Follow it through with some pre-game with their Bangkok Fireshots rimmed with 64% Auro Dark Chocolate for that fiery kick.
At Lampara, a Neo-Filipino epicurean journey comes into play with different cultural confluences in every plate. One such example is their tender and flavorful Slow Cooked Pork Belly sous vide for over 14 hours and sprinkled with Auro’s Cacao Nibs. A vegetarian option is also available in the form of their Surpresa – that’s bean sprouts, tofu, roasted peanuts, and cocoa nibs with chocolate sauce encased in a ball. Pair the meal with their choco infused Jim Bean Negroni as you cleanse your palate.
The purple neon lights that spell Polilya has become a Don Pedro street must in its own right. Spot it, head inside, and you’re pretty much guaranteed a great night. Now, you can enjoy their Deep Fried Hainanese Chicken topped with mole infused with 77% Auro Dark Chocolate, kesong puti, and cilantro for a balance in textures and a play of flavors in your mouth. Vegetarians rejoice because Polilya’s also got a special dish in store for you – their Mole with Vegetable Fritters! Down the dish with their 32% Auro White Chocolate Margarita Shots and we promise you, you’ll love your margaritas even more (if that’s even possible).
Take your bar crawl experience to new heights when you visit Alamat Filipino Pub and Deli. Known for their reinvented pulutan focused on native dishes and their excellent selection of local craft bars, the pub is serving up a couple of meals set to reintroduce you to Pinoy culture – their Tiyula sa Itum braised rib finger in burnt coconut and Auro tablea, Ensaladang Adlai at Talong and Auro Cacao Nibs, and for their vegetarian option: the Pinais – that’s rice crisp, pinakbet salsa tossed in Auro Dark Chocolate Vinagrette and Laing. For the full experience, order the platefuls with their Auro Plata, Gin, White Rum, Pandan, Cacao Liquor and chocolate sauce.
As the night comes to a close, don’t forget to stop by Pedro Tap House for their fresh-from the-tap beers. New on the menu is their Auro Chocolate Chili Cheese Dog which actually makes use of 55% Dark Chocolate as their chili base. Just imagine soft buttery brioche buns toasted to the right amount of char, given another dimension of flavor with their choco chili and melted cheddar cheese. Not to mention, they also have a vegetarian option on hand with their Red Bean Chocolate Chili Stout Shepherd’s Pie. The Auro Midnight Stout, a mixture of bourbon and 55% Dark Chocolate is its perfect boozy pairing to sip in between bites.
