The food world was not ready for the sad news that rocked social media last week when Palanca’s wife, Lourdes posted this on her Facebook page,
“Goodbye my gentle Clinton, as I lay you to rest today. You were the love of my life, and I will carry that love throughout this life and the next.”
The celebrated food writer and reviewer wrote regular columns for publications like Philippine Daily Inquirer and Town & Country, alongside authoring several noteworthy books on Philippine cuisine. It’s no surprise then that an outpouring of tribute messages for Palanca have been flooding news feeds over the weekend.
He was due for a culinary book with renowned photographer Neal Oshima at the time of his death.
Our hearts and prayers go with the family. And to you, Sir Clinton, we want to thank you for showing us the beauty of gastronomy in written form.
