Japan’s renowned chocolate brand sure is busy keeping in season these days. They just recently wrapped up their limited edition Sakura–inspired chocolates in pretty pink and celebrated summer with their Individual Pure Chocolate boxes in different flavors and pops of color for their packaging. And now, they’re turning a leafy shade once again – literally – with their Annual Green Tea Fair.
Here, Royce Chocolates pays homage to the time-revered matcha, which has become a pillar to Japanese culture. We’re giving you a sneak peek of some of our faves from the limited edition maccha treats.
Color us stunned to wrap our heads around the fact that Royce’s Annual Green Tea Fair started 7 years ago, and is still going strong to this day. This just goes to show the Filipinos’ continued love for earthy green tea, which exploded in popularity some years back. Their Nama Maccha is one of their most famous from the line-up for good reason – mixing fine chocolates, matcha, and fresh cream to produce this addictive confection.
Meanwhile, the Duo Praline Maccha piles on the matcha addiction with two layers in levels of mild and deep flavors – all of which encased in a premium chocolate shell. For those who like their confections with a little bit more crunch to the bite, the Chocolate Wafers Maccha might just be your best bet.
Don’t be fooled by the Prafeuille Chocolat Matcha. Sure, it might initially look too thin for the chocolate’s own good but you’d be pleasantly surprised by the burst of flavors that explode in your tastebuds. Also in their 10-tiered line-up is the Maccha Bar Chocolate – yet another example of Royce’s reverence for green tea when it comes to using special techniques in infusing earthy matcha seamlessly to their brand of chocolate.
For cookie afficionados, they have the Chocolat Cuit Matcha on hand to fulfill matcha cookie dreams. We love how dreamy it melts creamily in your mouth (pro-tip: try dunking it in milk to highlight its flavor). Rounding out our favorites from the Green Tea Fair is their Maccha Almond Chocolate. We’re obsessed with the balance here – how the authentic slight bitterness of the matcha is offseted by the almond’s natural sweetness and nuttiness.
Go ahead and satisfy your matcha cravings. We won’t judge. Head on over to Royce Chocolates’ various branches at Greenbelt, The Podium, Okada Manila, Trinoma, and Power Plant Mall now until the end of September to get your fill!
