Start them young, as they say. And the Hotel & Restaurant Chefs Association of the Philippines (HRCAP) is definitely building up passionate and competent chefs even before they turn 20!
At the 23rd Food & Drinks Asia Exposition, the HRCAP held its annual competition for young chefs from various schools within Metro Manila. The competing dishes were judged by celebrity chefs Boy Logro and Zheryl Jacinto, and Food Caterers Association of the Philippines (FCAP) President Mr. Noel Paguia.
Out of the nine schools that participated in the Food & Drinks Cooking Challenge this year, four schools emerged victorious.
3rd Runner Up: Colegio de San Lorenzo
2nd Runner Up: Globetek Senior High School and Technical Training Institute
1st Runner Up: Olivarez College – Parañaque
And the Food & Drinks Cooking Challenge Champion is the team from Lyceum of the Philippines – Manila who made the show-stopping dish Grilled Tanigue and Prawn Inabraw. The winning team is composed of young chefs Chris Gilbert Caparas, Ghellmar S. Blancia, Cheres Delos Santos, and Jehn Libunao with their chef-coaches Carvine Andres and Neil Manuel.
The winning team will take home Course Certificates and Grand Prize Trophy. HRCAP also gave out awards for the Best Chef with a Certificate and Nacional Bladeworks Knife and FCAP’s Choice Award with a special trophy.
Foodies, budding entrepreneurs, and seasoned business tycoons visited the expo to check out the latest offers and trends in the industry. With over 200 exhibitors offering more than 5,000 products and services, the 23rd Food & Drinks Asia Exposition has seen roughly 10,000 visitors within four days.
Celebrity chefs had the chance to share their business-friendly signature recipes on stage, while pocket events and seminars helped interested visitors to know more about the basics of starting and maintaining a business, as well as keeping up with the demands of today’s tech savvy markets.
With the overwhelming success of Food & Drinks Asia 2019, lots of exhibitors and guests expressed their excitement for next year’s expo. We hope to see you all in 2020 for the 24th Food & Drinks Asia Exposition!
